As American towns transformed
into cities, the focal point of a fine new residence was its achitectural facade.
Usually, great care was lavished on the front door, and many very handsome doorways
were created. To announce the arrival of guests, a highly polished cast brass
knocker was mounted as the center of attention on such doors.
We offer a selection drawn from a wide period of American history. One of the
earliest types is the so-called "S" shaped knocker. Our W201 and W216
are two sizes of this still popular knocker.
These, like our other reproductions, are the very finest had made quality. Most
have been reproduced from originals in our own collection. Standard finish is
"Golden Glow" with clear lacquer applied. We can omit the lacquer
and the brass will tarnish naturally. Proper types of mounting screws
with brass nuts are always furnished.
